MS Angle — L-Sections for Frames & Trusses
MS angle is an L-shaped hot-rolled section available in equal and unequal legs. Equal angles run from 25×25mm to 200×200mm, with thickness from 3mm to 20mm. Unequal angles (75×50mm to 200×150mm) are used where one leg must carry more load. MS angles are the most common section for trusses, transmission towers, brackets, bracing and general fabrication — rolled to IS 2062 E250/E350 grade.
MS Channel (ISMC) — C-Sections for Beams & Purlins
MS channel, designated ISMC per IS 808, is a C-shaped section from ISMC 75 to ISMC 400. Channels are used as purlins, crane girders, conveyor frames, building columns and machine bases. The deep web gives excellent bending strength along the major axis, making MS channels ideal wherever a beam must span and carry vertical load economically.
MS Flat — Rectangular Bars for Fabrication
MS flat (flat bar) is a rectangular section from 10mm to 300mm wide and 3mm to 40mm thick. MS Plate & MS Sheet — IS 2062 Hot-Rolled
MS plate and MS sheet are flat-rolled products from IS 2062 E250/E350 grade. MS sheet covers thinner gauges (up to ~5mm) used for ducting, panels, tanks and general sheet metal work, while MS plate (5mm to 150mm) is used for heavy fabrication, base plates, structural gussets, storage tanks and machine bodies. MS ERW Pipe vs MS Seamless Pipe
MS ERW pipe (Electric Resistance Welded) is rolled from steel strip and welded along a longitudinal seam, conforming to IS 1239 (light/medium/heavy) and IS 3589 for larger diameters. It is economical and ideal for water lines, structural columns, scaffolding and low-pressure service. MS seamless pipe (carbon steel, ASTM A106 Gr.B) has no weld seam — manufactured by piercing a solid billet — giving uniform strength for higher-pressure and mechanical applications.
