- Diameter: 8mm for stirrups, 12-16mm for slabs, 20-25mm for columns, 32mm for heavy foundations
- BIS Mark: Always verify ISI certification stamp on every bar — reject unmarked material
- Brand: Prefer primary makes (SAIL, JSW, TATA) over secondary for critical structural work
- Test Certificate: Ask for mill TC with chemical analysis + mechanical properties per IS 1786
- Delivery: Confirm weight (not number of bars) — tolerance is +/- 5% per IS standard
